RALEIGH: North Carolina’s leading environmental groups have endorsed Attorney General Roy Cooper in the upcoming election thanks to his work protecting North Carolina.
The NC Sierra Club Political Committee said “Roy Cooper earned the Sierra Club’s endorsement for his uncommon dedication to protecting North Carolinians’ health by cleaning up pollution from coal-fired power plants. Roy Cooper has been a staunch supporter of pro-environment policies.”
The Conservation Council of North Carolina’s Conservation PAC recommended Cooper after evaluating his record. Its endorsed candidates “demonstrated leadership on environmental issues, and their proven commitment to improving environmental protection in North Carolina.”
Cooper has led the fight for clean air in North Carolina by seeking Clean Air Act enforcement from the federal government of polluters in nearby states. He is holding the TVA accountable in court for the pollution it sends into North Carolina.
In addition, Cooper wrote the law that makes intentionally polluting a felony. His State Bureau of Investigation leads state and federal authorities on North Carolina’s Environmental Crimes Task Force.
