After a successful push for the Clean Smokestacks law, Cooper is demanding that other states follow North Carolina’s lead. He directed his lawyers to petition the Environmental Protection Agency to force polluters in neighboring states to cut down on the dirty air that crosses into our state.

Protecting clean water

When the proposed sale of a paper mill in Transylvania County threatened to ruin mountain rivers, Cooper and his lawyers kept the plant from shutting down its environmental systems. Cooper’s action also ensured that the waters of North Carolina would not be harmed by the sale or by future operation of the facility.
