North Carolina is blessed with one of the most diverse and abundant collections of natural resources in the country. To preserve our future we must protect the environment we have and stop those who would pollute it from spoiling it.
Emissions reductions for clean air: Clean air can be restored by reducing the emissions from industries that pollute. Auto emissions must be reduced by encouraging mass transit and finding other creative solutions such as flex time, high-occupancy vehicle lanes and better community planning.
Crack down on polluters: Clean rivers and streams should be preserved by cracking down on those who pollute water through animal waste spills and poor treatment of municipal waste. Those who break the rules should pay for the damage they cause. Roy Cooper will enforce laws he wrote which made intentional polluting a felony.
