Help for crime victims
Protect child victims of violence: Abusive spouses who beat their wives or husbands damage the young minds of children who witness domestic violence. Roy Cooper believes those batterers should face an additional charge for committing the crime while a child was present.
Victim rights advocate: Roy CooperÕs new laws giving crime victims basic rights need to be applied the same for all victims across the state. He believes a coordinator in the Department of Justice would make sure every victim has a voice.
More help for victims of domestic violence: Thanks to Roy CooperÕs work, domestic violence victims can take their assailants to court more quickly. Now he wants to make sure those same victims can get more help from the Victims Compensation Fund.
