The Attorney General is the peopleÕs advocate, and that means keeping North Carolina residents safe from scam artists who trick people out of their money and their livelihoods.
Stop predatory lending: Roy CooperÕs new laws to stop mortgage lenders from robbing homeowners of equity take effect this year, but efforts are already underway to weaken them. He will work to ensure that predatory lenders are forbidden from charging excessive fees and rates.
Stop fly-by-night operations: Businesses that promise everything and deliver nothing through illegitimate sweepstakes, falsely inflated investment returns and other schemes threaten unsuspecting consumers, especially senior citizens. Roy Cooper will fight these scam artists and restore confidence in legitimate firms that follow the rules.
