Fight Crime
Convict violent criminals:
With more use of DNA technology and other tools law enforcement
officers can stop rapists and murderers. Roy Cooper is working to
expand North Carolina’s database of convicted offenders and to
help investigators analyze the clues they leave behind.
Protect children from predators: Roy Cooper
believes that parents should be able to shield their families from
unwanted solicitations and pornography at home, at school and at play.
That means stopping internet predators from luring children through
chat rooms and social networking sites, better education for parents to
filter unwanted material on the Internet and strong safeguards to keep
private information private.
Stop drug dealers and manufacturers: Armed with
tough new laws and a team of experts, Roy Cooper’s SBI is
cracking down on toxic methamphetamine labs hidden away in homes,
hotels, abandoned buildings and cars. He will continue the work to help
law enforcement bust the labs, and to stop out-of-state drug
traffickers from bringing deadly drugs into North Carolina.
New tools to fight new crimes: Law enforcers and
prosecutors are finding that criminals are using increasingly
sophisticated ways to steal from unsuspecting victims. Roy Cooper
supports arming justice officials with the best tools available to
combat identity theft, credit card fraud and other crimes. He also will
push to get high-tech tools to help investigators.
