Attorney General Roy Cooper also is completing his first term. He has given priority to the use of DNA evidence to convict the guilty and clear the innocent. Other important issues he has addressed during his first term include domestic violence, illegal methamphetamine drugs, child predators on the Internet, protection of consumers from predatory lenders and identity theft, and clean air and water.
As was the case with Perdue, Cooper served 14 years in the General Assembly and rose to a position of leadership, majority leader of the Senate. Another parallel is that he has served well during his first term and deserves a second.
