Winston-Salem Journal endorses Cooper, notes tough drug laws

Attorney General Roy Cooper is seeking a second term, and the Journal endorses him. A Democrat, Cooper had a distinguished career in the legislature before winning the statewide job in 2000. In his four years, Cooper has run the department efficiently and seen that it represented the state well in court.
Cooper did excellent work in getting the state's do-not-call registry into law. He has also fought the payday lenders who prey on North Carolina's low-income families, including military personnel. Cooper has led the fight to strengthen laws against methamphetamine production and sales.
